A documentary that tells the true spirited story of three brave athletes. Tatyana McFadden age 17, Hannah McFadden age 10 and Juan Chavarria age 16, are patients of the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. The McFadden sisters were adopted from Russia at a very young age and brought to America, and currently reside in Clarksville, Maryland. Tatyana was born with Spina Bifida, which makes her incapable of using her legs. However, this does not hinder her to participate in physical activities. Tatyana is involved with wheelchair racing, basketball, table tennis and swimming. Hannah was diagnosed with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency also known as PFFD, which prevented her left leg from being fully developed. Just like her sister, Hannah also loves to participate in wheelchair racing, basketball, table tennis and swimming. Juan was born in Columbia, and currently resides in Tampa, Fl. He has been around the world seeing many doctors but still his diagnosis remains unknown and his condition is very similar to Spina Bifida. Unable to use his legs he enjoys playing basketball but his passion is for swimming. These three young courageous children do not allow their disabilities to slow them down or even worse give up hope. The Shriners assists them to live their life to the fullest.
Going for the Gold won the following awards:
“From the conception of the documentary "Going for the Gold: A Tale of Three Kids" working with Triple Knot Productions was a rewarding experience. Their communication and professionalism was exemplary. The production team’s interactions with the athletes at the National Junior Disability Championships were handled with concern of their privacy and respect of the games. "Going for the Gold: A Tale of Three Kids" is inspiring and informative. The Shriners organization is thankful for the awareness of the medical services provided to the athletes and their support of the NJDC that is highlighted in this film. This heartwarming story gives incredible insight to the world of physically challenged children competing in Olympic-style events. It was a pleasure and a privilege working with Triple Knot Productions.” –Tampa Shriners Hospital For Children The following prices are for personal / home use only.
